In an increasingly digital world, fairs and shows are the perfect places to maintain personal relations, make new business contacts and develop one’s network, a priority for Marfret, which each year targets major events such as Fruit Attraction, which this year celebrates its tenth edition at the IFEMA Exhibition Center in Madrid from 23rd to 25th October.
In a few days’ time, the Feria de Madrid will be welcoming 1500 exhibitors and some 70,000 visitors to the tenth edition of Fruit Attraction. Each year, this trade show for the fruit and vegetable sector is the stage for the renegotiating of many contracts and therefore an extremely important event for Marfret and its teams from around the world (Colombia, Costa Rica, Italy, Spain, Algeria). This year, the delegation will be headed by MedCar line manager Charlotte Rosa, with dozens of meetings scheduled with importers, exporters and traders from around the globe. “Our clients get to meet the people from our head office and the agents at the goods’ port of shipment and destination,” explains Celine Douvenou, head of the MedCar line’s reefer department.
Avocado takes the limelight
This tenth edition is showcasing avocado, a fruit regularly carried aboard Marfret’s vessels and it will be an opportunity to remind shippers of the importance of contracting Seasecure insurance cover. “We’re looking out for the interests of European buyers, since with this insurance, which only costs $70 per container, they can claim back freight costs if the goods are not in conformity. Marfret wants to protect its clients against contingencies affecting the quality of perishable goods, while at the same time proving that its equipment is reliable,” says Céline Douvenou.
The little green fruit, much appreciated by European consumers for its antioxidant properties, will also be the star of the show in Colombia, which for the first time is hosting the World Avocado Congress (WAC) from 23rd to 27th September, 2019, a sign of recognition and its professionalization. Marfret, present at the port of Turbo, has witnessed a surge in the number of export avocado containers. The company’s representatives will also be meeting up with customers in Bogota from 18th to 20th September, 2019, at the Agrofuturo exhibition.
Another event known for the signing of juicy contracts is the famous Fruit Logistica in Berlin, which takes place from 6th to 8th February next. “Unlike the shipping industry big international Liners, we enjoy privileged ties with our customers and provide personalised monitoring of cargoes,” points out Celine Douvenou.
