This vessel is named after one of the coves of Marseille. “Saumaty” refers to the northern cove of the city, a home port for fishermen.
Launched from Chinese shipyards in 2003, it has a deadweight tonnage of 5,600 tonnes. With a length of 100 meters, it is equipped with two onboard cranes of 40 tonnes each and has a capacity of 511 TEUs. The Saumaty is deployed on Marfret’s Maghreb route from Marseille every Friday, arriving in Algiers on Sunday.
