Algiers

Algeria imports capital goods, inputs necessary for processing industries, and consumer goods.
Since the beginning of 2018, imports have been restricted and are subject to prior authorizations.

PORT FACILITIES

The Port of Algiers includes 3 zones: North, Central, and South.

The EPAL, the Port Company of Algiers, manages:

  • The North zone, designated for car ferries and tramp ships,
  • The 10 to 12 berths in the central zone, mainly reserved for container ships, including Marfret's Saumaty, Ro-Ro ships, and occasionally tramp ships.
  • Part of the southern zone is for oil tankers and grain ships.

The other part of the South zone, the Algiers Container Terminal without gantry cranes, is managed by "DPWorld".

MARFRET IN ALGIERS

In 2008, Marfret established Marfret Algeria, a general maritime agent.
The company operates a weekly departure from Marseille on Friday, arriving in Algiers on Sunday. The rotation is ensured by the Saumaty ship, a container ship with a capacity of 350 TEUs.
