Ariane, Line Sales Manager in Marseille

Holder of a Master’s degree in LEA, Ariane stumbled into this profession by chance through a temporary mission at the CMA-CGM standard. At the end of her mission, she was offered a position to join their commercial team as an assistant. Among other tasks, she was responsible for booking shipments to the Caribbean with Marfret because, at the time, CMA-CGM did not serve that destination. She was in regular contact with Bernard Vidil, and in 1995, he offered her a position when he created the Cross-Trade department, which remained active until 2008. Ariane then transitioned to an Import position with the MedCar line and later to the Reefer commercial service. Since 2017, she has been the Commercial Manager for the Caribbean region.

« The Cross-Trade activity allowed me to be in contact with the entire world and taught me a lot about my profession and documentary regulations. It gave me the keys to understand our business. My current tasks involve selling transport services to clients from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean. For this, I must constantly monitor the market, study the competition, and implement an appropriate commercial and pricing policy. Above all, at Marfret, we make ourselves available to clients, which is our advantage compared to the big players in the industry, and that’s what I appreciate. Some clients have even become friends over time. They know that I am able to seek solutions and provide a quick response, whether positive or negative. I find my job very dynamic, and I can quickly see the effects of commercial actions. It’s stimulating to see volumes increase, knowing that we have contributed by attracting and retaining clients. I genuinely enjoy coming to work because I have an exciting job in a pleasant atmosphere. International travel adds an extra dimension of interest and allows me to meet new people and experience different cultures. I find it remarkable that Marfret has maintained its position and continues to exist in its family form, with its human scale, at a time when we see so many mergers in the global industry and many companies disappear. The company gives us the freedom to propose and try out new things, and the management has always adopted an encouraging attitude in the face of cyclical difficulties, with a positive discourse. We feel both valued and protected, which is valuable. »
